Everything You Need to Know Before Hiring a Campervan

We’ve put together this list of frequently asked questions to help you make the most of your campervan adventure. Whether you’re preparing for your trip, getting to know the features of your VW Transporter, or looking for guidance while you’re on the road, you’ll find answers to the questions we’re most often asked. Payments

What payment methods do you take?

We accept all major debit and credit cards and payments made by bank transfer.

What deposits do I have to pay?
  • A reservation deposit of 25% is required to secure your booking; this deposit is non-refundable.
  • At the time of collecting the Campervan, a Security Deposit of £500 must be paid. This can be paid with any major debit or credit card and as long as the Campervan is returned in the same condition, it will be refunded within 5 to 7 working days of your return date.

Drivers / Hirers

What if I have points on my licence?

Depending on the offence, our insurance company have the  right to increase your vehicle excess liability.  This normally occurs when you have more than 6 points on your license.  

We ask for your documents 21 days before departure, on average our insurance company makes a decision within 2 business days. Most applications get approved.

If our insurance company rejects your application, we will refund any money paid.

What are the age restrictions?

If you are aged between 23 – 70, have a minimum of 2 years driving experience, this meets our insurance company standard requirements. If you are aged outside of this age bracket, it may be still possible to drive our vehicle but we will be required to refer to our insurance company for a decision.

What proof of address do you require?

2 proof of addresses are required. Either:

  • 1 from table 1 and 1 from table 2
  • 2 from table 1

Campervans

Where do I leave my car?

You can park your car in our gated car park.  Customers do so at their own risk.

Where do I pick up the campervan?

You can collect our vans from Irvine, North Ayrshire.

What does the Insurance cover?

Each hire includes fully comprehensive insurance. However, as with all hire companies, an excess applies, which the main driver is responsible for in the event of a claim.

Our insurance does not cover you for your belongings.

What happens if I breakdown?

We keep our fleet well maintained and up to date, making breakdowns very unlikely. However, you are fully covered by our roadside breakdown service, who will assist you and get you back on your way.

Is there a mileage or location limit?

You have unlimited mileage on our campervans.

If you wish to leave the UK, please let us know so that we can arrange additional insurance.

YOUR HIRE COULD BE FREE

Purchase a campervan from Route 300 Campers after your hire and we’ll refund your hire cost against your purchase price (up to one week’s hire).

Terms & Conditions
  • The customer must buy from Route 300 Campers ltd.
  • The booking and campervan purchase must be in the same name.
  • The offer applies to the base campervan hire charge only.
  • Extras, insurance upgrades, deposits, damage charges and fuel are excluded.
  • The deduction is limited to a maximum of seven nights’ hire.
  • The campervan must be purchased within 6 months of completing the hire.
  • The offer cannot be exchanged for cash.
  • It cannot be combined with another discount unless Route 300 Campers ltd agrees.
  • Proof of the completed hire booking must be provided.
  • The deduction is applied when the campervan purchase is completed, not when a deposit is placed.
